Walgreens, how I love thee
August 10th, 2009 by Kristi Stephens
Dear Walgreens – quickly becoming one of my favorite places…
Today I decided to run over to Walgreens during the Sunday afternoon napping lull – I thought I was going to buy two papers (with THREE coupon inserts this week! Yahoo!) for a total of $3.00. But, after arriving, I thought, “why not spend $.45 more and come home with a big bag of stuff in addition to the two papers?” Well, actually I didn’t think those exact thoughts, but that is how it worked out.
Here is my weekly $5.00 Walgreens challenge post. I am quite elated to say that I am starting to get the hang of using multiple transactions to keep out of pocket cost down. Let me explain.
Transaction #1:
Jergens naturals lotion $5.99
4 Reach toothbrushes on clearance for $1.09 each (yay! Needed these for the backpacks!)
Sub Total= $7.35
Minus 2 $1.50 off 2 reach toothbrushes coupons (ordered from The Coupon Master)
Minus $7.00 in rebate rewards I had on hand
Total out of pocket (with tax) = $1.02
Received $6.00 in register rewards (from the Jergens) back!
Transaction #2:
2 Stayfree maxi, on sale for $1.99
Colgate total enamel care @ $2.99
2 Sunday papers @ $1.50
Sub Total= $9.97
Minus 1 Stayfree BOGO coupon (ordered from The Coupon Master)
Minus $6.00 register rewards from Transaction #1
Total out of pocket (with tax) = $2.43
Received $8.00 in register rewards back ($3 for the toothpaste, and the extra $5 was a surprise – I guess it was from the stayfree??)!
Total value = $17.32 (plus a TON of coupons from the papers!)
Register rewards in pocket = $8.00 ($1 more than I started with!)
Grand total out of pocket cost = $3.45
As always, I hope that you are taking advantage of these things… and if you happen to not need 2 packs of stayfree, 4 toothbrushes, and extra toothpaste this week – give them away!! :)
