One Wobbly Step at a Time

March 22nd, 2010 by Kristi Stephens

Pardon me for interrupting the Redeemed series… I couldn’t pass this one up.

A while back I slipped the comment in that I feel called to start writing a book.  This year.

God has been lining up pieces in my life that I desperately needed to launch me on this journey.  People like Teri Lynne and Sandra who also are writing -and who ask me questions like, “have you been working on your outline?”

You see, I need this because they are type-A and super organized and I am… not.  God knew I needed some accountability.  ;)

Through them I also had heard about She Speaks – an amazing conference for Christian women called to serve through writing, speaking, and women’s ministry.   The more I read about this conference, the more I know I want to be there – the hardest decision is choosing which sessions I will attend!  [If only I could split myself and attend the writing track, speaking track, AND women's ministry track!]

The only reason I haven’t registered yet is money!!

So, when I heard that Lysa TerKeurst was giving away 3 scholarships to attend, I knew I simply had to write this post and enter.

I know that God has called me to write.  This blog has been born out of the first step of obedience to that call.  God has grown, blessed, and used it in ways that I never could have anticipated.

I’m continuing down the journey to follow His call on my life – one wobbly step at a time.  I don’t know what lies ahead, but I know this: His vision is bigger than mine, and He has a plan.  All I can do is take the next step He lays before me!

I’m planning to attend She Speaks – I’m not exactly sure how I’m paying for it, but I am confident this is the direction God has led me.  If winning a scholarship is how He’s going to get me there, I am completely on board with that plan! :)

I am praying that everything falls into place financially for She Speaks. I also would love to write a book. . .I am just not sure if I am ready. I am so glad that I found your site!

What can I do to help you get this scholarship??? Oh and we need to Skype … SOON … about this conference. Things to tell you! I saw that post and meant to tell you. ((hugs)) my friend! BTW, how is your outline coming???

  3. Sandra Says:

Praying that you will get the scholarship, or God will provide in another way! <3

Kristi, You do have an incredible gift to communicate God’s word effectively and you go the extra step and teach your readers how to apply God’s Word to their lives! Your writing challenges and sharpens me! I am praying and will continue to pray! I am also claiming the promises of God for you! He indeed has a plan for you, He will provide for you, and He will never leave you or forsake you!

I hope you win a “Lysa scholarship”! I know that it would be a great investment for Proverbs to bring you to She Speaks. :)

[...] Back in March I had mentioned that I was hoping/planning to go to the She Speaks conference this year.  Unfortunately I didn’t receive a scholarship and I kept putting off registering because of cost, and when I finally took the plunge the register the conference was already full!  I asked to be put on the waiting list, but figured that I most likely would not be going.
