“Pearls of Hope” Necklace GIVEAWAY

March 26th, 2010 by Kristi Stephens

Congrats to the winner of this giveaway – Amanda!!

Much of the jewelry you will see in the Women at Risk, International online store is made of pearls.  Not only are the pearls beautiful, they also tell a larger symbolic story that is meaningful for each individual woman who works to craft jewelry and earn a living with dignity and beauty.

Deep within the darkness of the ocean, nestled on the sandy floor, danger and beauty live side by side. In the ebb and flow of life, living creatures are attacked unfairly. In the midst of this struggle, a choice is made.

As the parasite attacks the softness of the clam, creation has written a story of hope in the face of crisis. Slowly, over time, layers and layers of the costly experience cover the invader, forming what we all know as a pearl of great price. The greater the invader, the faster the growth.

So it is, deep within the lives and hearts of women, danger and beauty live side by side. In the midst of this stormy struggle, every woman makes a choice that will write the story of her life in the sands of time. When attacked, she can choose to weave a story of hope in the face of her pain. Slowly over time, Women At Risk, Int’l offers a protected place to turn this attack into a pearl of great price, hope, and unspeakable beauty.

I am thrilled to tell you that, in conjunction with the Redeemed series, WAR has chosen to give away one of their signature freshwater white “pearls of hope” pendants as well as a sterling silver chain. Every time you wear this piece it will remind you of the tears of the wounded – and you can be reminded to pray that God will wrap the evil and brokenness in these women’s lives in layers of beauty and redemption.

To enter this giveaway, leave a separate comment for each of the below that you choose to do!

Please be SPECIFIC in your responses – this giveaway is for the purpose of educating us about Women at Risk, the work they do, and ways we can help.  Very generic responses  may be removed.  Thanks. :)

I will be purchasing the 60″ Multi Colored Glass Necklace made in Nepal. I saw it at our WAR party at the church, but it had already sold out! I’m waiting to buy it at the party I will be having soon!

  2. Amanda Says:

I just got my jewelry party pack in the mail yesterday. I’m going to begin working with my mom to set up a party for the women at my mom and dad’s church. I can’t wait to share WAR with them so they can spread the word themselves.

  3. Teri Lynne Underwood Says:

I LOVE the amethyst & pearl necklace and earrings set. Casiday’s birthstone is amethyst and Scott’s is the pearl. Wearing this set would be such a beautiful reminder to be thankful for my life … and to pray for others who long for the innocence of childhood and the security of covenant love with a man.

  4. Teri Lynne Underwood Says:

As for how I can get involved, I am praying fervently about the opportunity to be a messenger and/or a risk coach.

  5. Teri Lynne Underwood Says:

The Redeemed logo is on my blog … above each day’s post … with a link to your site, Kristi. Does that count??

  6. Tammy Ritter Says:

I think the Rangichangi Necklace is my favorite but there are others I love too!!!

  7. Tammy Ritter Says:

I did not realize that “800,000 women and children a year trafficked illegally, 50% of them children, 70% of the women sold into sexual slavery chained to beds of horror.”

  8. Tammy Ritter Says:

I didn’t realize just how young some of the children are that are getting trafficked. I also did not realize how bad it is in the US.

  9. Kristi Stephens Says:

Teri Lynne -YES, that counts! :)

The Red & White Silver Heart Pendent Necklace is beautiful and I loved the scarves!

  13. Jenni Saake "InfertilityMom" Says:

I love the idea of “holistically ministering to the woman in body, soul, and mind.” It’s not just pat-on-the-back words, “go, keep warm and well feed” (James) or handouts that meet temporary physical needs but not heart issues. Instead they are getting in there with scholarships, micro-loans, job skill training and education!

  14. Jenni Saake "InfertilityMom" Says:

On the “get involved” pages I was amazed by the perspective, “The women of America are a gold mine of talent in this area. They have spent their lives going to trade shows and craft shows, watching cooking classes, and reading Martha Stewart. They have no idea how talented they are.” I love the idea that things we so take for granted, “hobbies” we dabble in, can make a life-changing difference to women who have simply not had the same exposure to craft stores and channel surfing! I’m going to have to do some thinking and praying about that concept. :)

I think my son would love the brown frog. It is simply unbelievable (though I know its true) that so many children have no childhood and lose their innocence so soon.

I loved visiting the shop, and I really think the wine colored sheer scarf is beautiful. The colors and variety of all of the items just remind me of the many different kinds of women WAR represents. They have an excellent and informative site.

  30. Julie Says:

I blogged about the series and really pray it directed some of my readers to learn more. I have some readers who are always looking for ways to respond with mercy out of their compassion.

I learned that their programs help rescue women & children are sold into slavery and that WAR helps return them safely home. Some of the programs they use to do this include training women to enter jobs that help them rebuild their lives; returning them home to either their original home or to a safe alternative if their home situation is not a safe one. I had no idea that there are 100,000 children are trafficked in America each year.

  36. Aimee Says:

I learned that we can help by hosting WAR chest parties to sell items made by women who have been rescued from trafficking. During the party, a video is played that talks about the issue of human trafficking as well as ways we can help.

  37. Aimee Says:

I have featured Kristi’s opening blog on my own blog and have posted the “Redeemed Series” button on my blog.

Wow. I had no idea so much was being done and there is such a variety of things. I read about the orphanage in S. Africa where they need breast milk donated. I learned about the purity camp they want to help make happen in the middle east to protect Christian girls in the city. I also read facts about pornography and organ theft. I am sure I will read a lot more. Thank you.

I can get involved in my time, talent, or treasure. Giving directly or shopping are two “easy” ways to get involved. You can also be a voice for the group to educate. You can even become an ambassador and travel. I think at this time that I would be most interested in hosting a WAR party. I am going to email for more information.

Wow! I just read about the mission and ministry of WAR. What an amazing and practical vision! Of course you can’t just try to rescue women from “slavery” you have to provide them an alternative. I also love that there are preventative measures that they are taking as well.

Tough to choose….such beautiful stuff! I love the black agate watch with silver accents. I don’t have a watch, so that would be good! If I don’t win, I’m still going to get something from here.

Women at risk also helps babies with aids….a much needed source of love!

  53. Alaina Says:

To help out, we can certainly buy some of the amazingly beautiful jewelry, but we can be a voice for these girls and women. They need us to speak for them.
