Trafficking is Real. Solutions Exist.

March 20th, 2010 by Kristi Stephens

As we gear up for Redeemed to officially begin on Monday, I have been researching human trafficking like never before.  I’ve been sharing many statistics and other information on twitter.

It’s grim, folks.

I think sometimes in order to wake us from our slumber, we have to face cold hard facts. I urge you to take some time to investigate on your own. Here are some places to start.

Women at Risk, International (the focus of the Redeemed series) has a beautiful website full of information, stories, pictures, and gorgeous items that you can purchase – 90% of the proceeds go directly back to the safehouses or individuals that supply them. They do “fair trade on steroids!”

International Justice Mission has a vast amount of information on their website. I’d encourage you to be sure to view this short video - incredible.

Help for the victims (in Ohio):

Gracehaven seeks through Christian love to provide shelter and rehabilitation to girls under the age of 18 who have been victims of commercial sexual exploitation, and to raise awareness among young women about the issue of domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) in order to educate and equip them so that they can avoid becoming victims themselves.

There are currently only 3 programs within the United States that specialize in this unique type of rehabilitation.

    You can help them: http://www.gracehavenhouse.org/
Check their website out for the many ways to help them.

That is so exciting, Missy – what an awesome ministry! So much impact would be made if those of us in the Church would speak out and take action on behalf of the abused and oppressed, even in small ways. Thank you for sharing.
