He who has an ear…

May 1st, 2010 by Kristi Stephens

Some encouragement today to dig into Revelation on your own…

This book [Revelation] was not written to unsaved individuals.  Remember in chapter 1, verse 1, it was written to show His servants things which must shortly happen.  This is a love letter from the Lord to you.  He wants you to have a special message and He wrote much of it in code.

Well then, you say, ‘I can’t understand it.’  Oh, not so fast!  If you really love the Lord, you will be studying the Bible from cover to cover and you will discover the Lord has hung keys here and there which you will find as you read.

Those keys will unlock other doors that seem, at first, to be difficult.  This book was written for God’s children who love Him enough to really study it.  In so doing, they will find the Holy Spirit delights to be their teacher.

These things are spiritually discerned.  Carnal man cannot simply breeze through the Bible expecting to satisfy his own intellectual curiosity concerning the future history of this world without any desire to learn any spiritual truth.  God does not cast His pearls before swine.

…I think God wrote Revelation to be largely closed to carnal man, but it is wide open to those who love the Lord.  He that has a spiritual ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.

…the individual who loves the Lord and studies the book from cover to cover will find the more he studies, the deeper it gets and the more it unfolds and the more wonderful it becomes.  I get more thrilled every time I go through it.  I would like to have a year with nothing to do but to go out somewhere on a lonely island like the remote shores of Hawaii and just study the book of Revelation.  There are so many things that have a relationship to the rest of the Bible and you don’t learn these things by sitting down and reading ten verses at a time.  You have to spend hours, shutting out the things of the world and making yourself available to the Holy Spirit; then he begins to let you see these things.  After a while you will hear the music of heaven; you will catch a glimpse of that glory-land and you will burst into tears. It is so wonderful!

I am trying to tell you that here we are expounding a precious love letter that God wants all His children to understand.

The Holy Spirit will make it plain. ‘He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”
