AWANA Wednesday – Pinterest Edition

September 12th, 2012 by Kristi Stephens

AG is getting ready to start her second year of the AWANA Sparks program at our church! She loves AWANA, and it is a great way to help our kids memorize God’s Word!

Her “section” for today was all review from last year, so I turned to golden ideas I had found on Pinterest and made them work for verse memory.

First, I took one of our 50 post-it note pads (seriously, how did we end up with this many post-its?) and trimmed a small stack of post-its so only the sticky strips at the top remained. I wrote out her verses on the sticky strips, trimmed them down so each word was on its own “sticker,” and stuck them on BW’s mega blocks.

Voila! Now, we had a verse memory review stacking game!

Next, she needed to review the books of the New Testament.

Inspired by yet another Pinterest pin, I wrote the name of each book on a clothespin, mixed them up, and had her pin them in order on a spare cutting mat from the kitchen.

Kids can learn Scripture amazingly well – and the more hands on we can make it, the better it can “stick!”

Happy stacking, sorting, and clipping!
